Key activities include the establishment of five strategically located rural xerox shops, enhancing accessibility to essential document services at affordable prices. Additionally, the initiative has set up five swing machines, providing crucial support to widows and physically challenged individuals for regular income generation, promoting self-reliance and inclusivity. The Special Programme for Promotion of Integrated Farming (SPPIF) in Tribal Areas, executed by Kandhamal Zilla Sabuja Vaidya Sangathan with support from ATMA Kandhamal and technical guidance from WASSAN, strives to enhance the livelihoods and income of farmers in Kandhamal’s tribal regions. Embracing the principles of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse & Recovery, the program focuses on optimal natural resource utilization through site-specific and landscape-based farming systems, promoting diversification, intensification, and integration in a cluster approach.

Objective:

The SPPIF program aims to:

1. Optimize natural resource utilization using the principles of Reduce, Recycle,
   Reuse & Recovery.
2. Promote site-specific and landscape-based farming systems through
   diversification, intensification, and integration.
3. Improve farmers’ livelihoods and income through enterprises, marketing, and
   value chain interventions by WSHGs/FPOs.

Coverage:

Implemented in 30 villages and 3 gram panchayats within the Daringbadi Block of Kandhamal district, the program targets areas including Danekbadi, Plihery, and Greenbadi Gram Panchayats.

Components:

1. Agriculture: Focuses on crop diversification and participatory varietal trials to reduce dependency on mono-cropping.
2. Horticulture: Emphasizes the trellis system for vegetable cultivation to optimize space and improve productivity.
3. Livestock: Enhances livestock-based enterprises through goat shelters, goat rearing, broiler rearing units, Indigenous Chick Production Units, vaccination programs, duck rearing, and fodder cultivation.
4. Fishery: Establishes a Nano Fish Feed Mixture Unit and supports fish seed production for sustainable fishery practices.

Achievements:

1. Agriculture: Successful crop diversification and identification of improved varieties through participatory trials.
2. Horticulture: Increased productivity and improved crop quality through the adoption of the trellis system.

The Odisha Millet Mission Programme, a flagship initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Government of Odisha, has made noteworthy progress in the past year. The program, designed to promote and cultivate millets, particularly Ragi, collaborates with ATMA Kandhamal and receives technical assistance from WASSAN. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the program’s achievements.

In the cultivation and promotion domain, the program, in
collaboration with ATMA Kandhamal, engaged 1,500 farmers across 14 gram panchayats in the K. Nuagaon Block. Efforts were focused on sustainable agricultural
practices, resulting in millet cultivation on over 1,000
hectares. Training initiatives equipped farmers with knowledge on millet cultivation, pest management, and soil conservation. The procurement and market linkages component successfully procured 4,000 quintals of Ragi,
ensuring fair prices and timely payments for farmers. Market channels for millet products were established, expanding opportunities for farmers within and beyond Odisha.

Creating awareness about millets and their nutritional benefits was a priority. The program organized events like millet food festivals and conducted awareness campaigns, emphasizing millets’ role in addressing malnutrition, particularly in tribal areas.

Competitions recognizing excellence in millet farming practices incentivized farmers and fostered healthy competition. The program concludes with a commitment to expanding its reach, increasing farmer participation, and promoting millets as a sustainable and nutritious crop. The Remedial Education Programme, operating in Saringirpi Village, Marenji Village, and Padami Village, aims to provide educational support and opportunities for underprivileged children. Education Centre Timings: Morning session (7:00 AM to 9:00 AM) and Evening session (4:30 PM to 6:00 PM) Centre Management: Local community members actively participate in managing the education centers, ensuring their smooth functioning.

The emphasis on Cleanliness and Covid-19 Preventive Measures extended to 7,000 families, providing essential resources such as masks and sanitizers. Additionally, the distribution of 200 Dry Ration and Nutrition Kits addressed the

The program, aimed at addressing malnutrition and providing educational support to village children, operates in four centers located in Breakamala Village, Dabedi Village, Alimaha Village, and Tembuli Village, benefiting a total of 200 students. The centers operate from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and are community-managed.

Initiated in response to prevalent malnutrition in Kandhamal District, the program seeks to enhance the nutritional and educational outcomes of young children through targeted interventions. The collaborative effort underscores a commitment to community welfare and development.

Objectives:
